A special military court martial led by , AVM James Gbum has demoted Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Sani, one time Chief of Transformation and Innovation Centre of the Nigerian Army, to a Brigadier-General.

Sani was demoted after the court convicted him on a five-count charge bordering on cheating. Sani had been standing trial in the court since 2015 after he was accused of dividing and allocating part of army land to himself.

The court also ordered the convict to return N23 million being the money he got after he sold the part of the army land to himself.  The court held that the convict fraudulently allocated to himself part of the land – 436 hectares, in Abuja and sold it.

Counsel to Sani, Mr Paul Sule (SAN), said that he would appeal to the army council to quash the sentence.  Sule also said that should the council refuse to quash the sentence; he would approach the Court of Appeal to do that.

Premium Times reports that Obasanjolauded the late Danmasani as an embodiment of peace, wisdom and patriotism, adding that he had always prayed for “a land of unity, land of order, land of progress and an envy of the African States.”

He added: “This man (Maitama Sule) has left behind a big shoe and I don’t know if there is anybody fit enough to fill that shoe for now.”

In his remarks, Governor Ganduje described former President Obasanjo as a detribalised leader who had always identified with the people of Kano on many occasions.

Present at the meeting were Niger and Adamawa State governors, Abubakar Bello and Jibrilla Bindowo; a former judge, Mamman Nasir; the Wakilin Adamawa, Hassan Adamu; and the former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako.

A female police officer, Joy Okoshi (pictured), allegedly poured hot water on her 15-year-old
househelp identified as Chinyere Igwe in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.

It was gathered that the victim was preparing soup when Okoshi complained that she did not follow her instruction. In anger, she poured the hot pot of soup on her and later followed it with a bowl of hot water.
“I failed to follow her instruction and in anger, she came out and carried the pot of soup together with the egusi (melon) and threw at me and it landed on my back. She also carried iron and hit me on my body and ordered me to bend down and raise my leg up but I refused because my back was paining me seriously. She locked me up in a room while she went to boil water to pour on me. I pleaded with her to have mercy on me but she went inside and brought tear gas, then I started crying when she rushed to get hot water and poured on me,"Igwe said.

According to the victim, she had suffered various forms of abuse in the two years she lived with the policewoman.
“Only my mother is alive and I have been living with my madam for over two years now. This is as a result of my father’s death coupled with my mother’s financial handicap.
She added that the policewoman’s husband also hit her.
"Her husband also beat me up, but he was not aware that I had such injury because it was in the night. He later apologised and asked his wife to use honey to treat my back," Igwe said.
Meanwhile, wife of Ebonyi State governor, Mrs Rachael Umahi has called for the arrest of the officer. Umahi made the call after officials from her office and the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development rescued the girl from the policewoman's home.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor’s wife, Donatus Owo in a statement last Saturday said the victim is receiving treatment.
“The matter has been reported to the police while the victim was taken to Police Clinic for medical treatment,’’ she said.

A Connecticut woman committed suicide after trying to strangle her 8-year-old daughter. The woman's body was discovered on Saturday morning after the 8-year-old daughter she attempted to strangle regained consciousness and found her mother's dead body in another room in their home.

Detectives believe that Ivanna Krekhtyak, 36, killed herself believing she had just killed her daughter but after she died, her daughter regained consciousness. Police say that after finding her mother dead, the little girl ran to a neighbor's home. The neighbor then  who called police, who then found Krekhtyak’s body.

“All of the evidence at the scene is consistent with that,” Fairfield Police Lt. Robert Kalamaras says. “It’s such a shame. This was a tragic call.”

Kalamaras confirmed that the girl had strangulation marks on her neck as well as redness on her face as a result of the attack. The little girl was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she continues to receive treatment. Kalamaras says the girl is “in stable condition”.

Krekhtyak’s husband, Vasyl Krekhtyak, died in 2015 at the age of 38  also by suicide. He killed himself “by neck compression,” according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Since giving birth to her twins, believed to be a boy and a girl, Beyonce and her newborn babies have been in this lavish Malibu hideaway to keep away from prying eyes and also to give them time to rest and get used to their new life.

The luxurious mansion, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, has extensive 6.3 acre grounds and boasts of 14 bathrooms, 10 bedrooms, a 25ft infinity pool and it costs $400,000 a month to rent.

It has a rose garden with more than 1,000 flower bushes, a landscaped desert area and a tennis court complete with a viewing deck. Beyonce is renting the La Villa Contenta until the end of August, that is for more than two months, so do the math.

Beyonce moved in on Wednesday after leaving the hospital following the birth of her twins via cesarean section. It is reportedly another reason why she rented the secluded location, she wants a nice, quiet place to recuperate. Her mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, was seen on Sunday arriving at the luxurious house to visit her grand babies. She arrived in a black Porshe SUV.

Neighbours at Beyonce's lavish hideaway include Halle Berry (she has a house that sits directly on the sandy beach facing the Pacific), Caitlyn Jenner, Barbra Streisand, Pamela Anderson and Julia Roberts. The La Villa Contenta has been featured in a lot of movies such as, in HBO's True Blood, in CW series Privileged, Funny People, and more.

Some men of the Nigerian Police Force have been accused of killing Benjamin Wankaa, an event MC and a 300 level Mineral Resources student of Kaduna Polytechnic.

According to reports, on Sunday, June 25th, Wankaa popularly known as MC Cedar, and four other occupants including his sister, cousin and friend were stopped by a team of policemen on their way home from a night party, which he anchored.

They identified themselves as a student of the Kaduna Polytechnic, by producing the school ID card. However, four of them were whisked away in a patrol van, leaving behind Benjamin with another patrol team.

While still in custody, the police officers informed them that Benjamin escaped from them. The next day, his body was found on the highway with broken hands and legs, an indication that he was probably tortured.

Read the statement issued by the Joints Legal Action Aids on what allegedly happened:
Good afternoon, I am Fisayo W Okuboyejo Esq, the General counsel 2 of THE JOINTS LEGAL ACTION AIDS, we are basically an NGO and we have our head office in Lagos.
I want to officially lay a complaint/Petition as regard the recent barbaric incident which occurred in Kaduna as regards one Benjamin Wankaa otherwise known as MC WAnkaa...which forthwith would be regarded as our client.

Its with great distrust and feelings of downhearteness that we heard about the untimely demise of our beloved and illustrious Client who lost his humble soul as a result of the crookedness of the Nigerian Police Force.
Benjamin Wankaa Dede who was a 300l (HND1) student of the department of mineral resources, Kaduna polytechnic, Kaduna before his death was killed on the 25th of June 2017 as reported by his friends who the Nigerian Police officers from Sabon Gari police arrested along with Our client.
Our Client apart from schooling, was an MC of events, as this was what he does as a part-time job to sustain his educational carrier.
As stated earlier, Sabon Gari Police Station was the Police Station whose officers carried out this dastardly act as reported by our Client friend whose identity we chose not to declare for now as perceived and directed by the friends and family of Benjamin.
We regret such actions from the members of the Nigerian Police Force and we stand to condemn this unjustified killing of an innocent soul by the Nigerian police force.
As stated earlier, it was reported that our client Benjamin (Cedar) alongside his cousins and some friends when they were coming from a night party where our Client anchored as an MC. On getting to a check point at Magangi Gari, Sabo Ngari, his vehicle was accosted by the Police Men for check. It was later reported that for reasons known to the Police Men on duty, they had to call for reinforcements after which the students in the vehicle whom some happen to be Benjamin's cousin and sisters identified themselves as a student of the Kaduna Polytechnic, by producing the school ID card, including Benjamin him self.
Further more , it was reported that the other patrol van which had been called earlier whisked the Four (4) other students away to the Police Station while Benjami was left with the standby patrol team still on ground.
Our client's cousin with his other sister and friends were kept in the custody without Benjamin and later, the Police officers reported that Benjamin had escaped from them, only to break the news of the young man's death at a later stage.
The Nigeria Police Men claimed that Benjamin's body was found along the high way dead with some parts of his body broken, more especially his Legs, Hands- which indicates that there might have been forced torture and brutality on the innocent young man.
We later got information that the father of Benjamin's cousin sisters who came for the bail of the two cousin sisters was mandated to sign the closure of the case before the two cousin sisters could be released which the helpless man did.
Benjamin's body has since then been deposited to the state mortuary which Benjamin's family, friends and representatives were all denied to examine the body.
This afternoon, the family approached the Police Station where the incident happened to claim the body for proper examination, wherein they were made to sign a statement which depicts that Benjamin's body is not be further examined for reasons unclear.
There was no coroner report about our Client death either.
From the above inferred, it reveals that Benjamin's has been unjustly maimed by his assailants happen to be men of the Nigerian Police Force.
We submit that, Its possible, that there might have been excessive torture and Benjamin had no choice but to give up the ghost.
We are quite sad and heavy hearted that such a brilliant future and promising son of the soil's life could be cut short for reasons unprofound.
We implore the Nigerian police force to immediately look into this petition as the family member are greatly grief over the Demise of their son, besides we submit that the Nigerian police force has no right to take any body's life unjustly except as provided by the constitution.

General Counsel 2
